McDonald's Launch 'Big Mac Shop' - Bizarre New Fashion & Lifestyle Range

Yes, you read that correctly - fast food fashion is apparently a thing now. I thought we'd all gotten over that infamous Moschino collection, but nope. McDonald's recently unveiled their own new fashion/lifestyle range, 'Big Mac Shop', during a Swedish fashion show in which models paraded down the 'McWalk'. (Side note: is anyone else getting tired of them just putting 'Mc' in front of everything?) To sum the collection up, it's pretty damn strange and seems to be the same tacky image of a burger just printed onto various white items. All I can say is I don't even know how I feel about putting Big Macs into my mouth, let alone having them garishly printed across my clothing...

Is Meghan Trainor's 'Dear Future Husband' Music Video REALLY That Problematic?

meghan trainor dear future husband music video
Breakthrough pop star Meghan Trainor dropped the video for her latest single, 'Dear Future Husband', earlier this week and let's just say that it did NOT go down well with the internet, with some even going as far as to deeming it the 'Worst Song of 2015'. After recently causing controversy by claiming she 'doesn't consider herself a feminist' and body-shaming 'skinny b*tches' in the lyrics of her hit song, 'All About That Bass', many fans were already beginning to question the propriety of their role model when this new release showed to be the final straw. However, as with all issues like this - it never is quite as black and white as we'd like it to be in a perfect world. Let's weigh up all the evidence and have a closer look at the song:

Why Poetry Is Still Important In Today's Society

beach sunset pier
This was a topic that was discussed earlier this week in the debating society that I'm in and although everyone was fairly respectful and open to new ideas, it was pretty conspicuous that I was the only person in the room who was even a regular reader/writer of poetry, not to mention possessing a real passion for it. I know I'm biased, but that was a revelation which was pretty shocking to me: as someone who is surrounded by such a copious amount of fellow writers and wordsmiths, it seems insane to think that there are an increasing amount of people in the world who fail to see the relevance of such an art in today's society. Now first, let me reassure you - I am certainly not here to try and convert anybody into a lover of poetry. You are free to appreciate or disregard it to whatever extent you wish and I have no desire to force anything upon anybody. My aim of this post is nothing more than to simply share my reasons as to why poetry has such a special place in my life to whoever is listening and willing to learn.

Poetry is an art which lacks definition
The entire essence of poetry is freedom; there are no rules. So many people swallow the commonly accepted misconception, perpetuated by our education system, that a poem has to be littered with literary techniques such as rhyme, meter, alliteration etc in order to be valid and it really couldn't be further from the truth. Poetry has developed so much over time that it's become impossible to capture what a 'poem' really is. Whether it's ten pages or six words long, rhymed or blank verse, you could even argue that a poem doesn't require actual words found in the dictionary. Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance; our entire existence in this physical form is poetry in motion.

The Prom Dress Edit

Prom season has sprung upon us and this is about the time when most teenage girls around the country start to go mad searching for that perfect dress. Although I can't say that I viewed my own prom last year with quite the same vehemence as most, but one thing I was certainly determined on is that I wanted to look different. Gaudy 'princess' dresses are really not my style and I'm so glad I chose to wear something I genuinely liked, and still do, since a couple of my friends are already starting to regret theirs. (Read my blog post and see what I wore here!) So... this post is mainly for those classy, unconventional and slightly-quirky girls who simply want a gorgeous dress without breaking the bank and all the other unnecessary fuss. Get inspired with my lovingly hand-picked choices below:
